Directions
Driving north from Boston, to get to the Crawford Notch trailhead:
From I-93 exit 35 near Franconia Notch, follow US Route 3 about 11 miles north to the junction of US Route 302 in Twin Mountain, turn right on US Route 302 and go east about 8.3 miles. Turn left on Mount Clinton Road and go about 0.2 miles to parking lot on left. The trail begins at the far end near the outhouse.
To get to the hotel, backtrack North on 302; after about 10 miles, turn right on Route 3 North. Go about 1 mile, head right on Route 115 (Owl's Head Highway) for about 10 miles. Take a right on Route 2 (Gorham Hill Road) toward Gorham - go about 15 miles. In Gorham, take a right on Routes 2/16 (Main Street); the Mount Madison Motel is at 365 Main Street, a short distance down the road.
